Acacia Park needs a sensory garden for children with autism - Liliana's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $4,200 for materials.
🇺🇸 United States671 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $760, and the remaining cost is $4,200.
It will serve about 501 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,200 goes:
• Materials: $3,300
• Permits and inspections: $360
• Safety equipment and signage: $240
• Tools hire and delivery: $300
Thanks for reading all this.

Hope it all works out, Liliana. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in Leeds donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of San Diego.
You're not alone, Liliana. More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Anaheim.
Keep going, Liliana. Hope this works out for you. Greetings from Accra.
keep going. Great idea, hope you get there. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
