A youth football pitch for the Baobab community hall: help our neighbors in Grand Rapids
Volunteers in Grand Rapids are raising $3,500 for a youth football pitch at the Baobab community hall.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $580, and the remaining cost is $3,500.
It will serve about 270 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Materials: $2,700
• Permits and inspections: $90
• Safety equipment and signage: $410
• Tools hire and delivery: $300
