A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Salvador
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a youth football pitch - we need $750 for materials.
Anywhere in the world616 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $750.
It will serve about 460 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $750 goes:
• Materials: $590
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Best of luck, Renata. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in.
Take care, Renata. Looking forward to the next update. After 20 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.
Wishing you peace, Renata. More neighborhoods should do this.
