Chiamaka was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in July. The surgeon at Ikeja University Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,050 short.
my wife has been in and out of Ikeja University Hospital since July. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Chiamaka struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Chiamaka won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
