A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Nairobi
Volunteers in Nairobi are raising $450 for a youth football pitch at Unity Park.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Kenya1,158 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 540 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Materials: $320
• Tools hire and delivery: $75
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
