A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Laredo
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Maple community hall that will serve 565 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,150.
It will serve about 565 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $500
• Materials: $2,250
• Safety equipment and signage: $400
