Efthymia was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in August. The oncology team at Piraeus Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Efthymia is 35, worked as a farmer until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Piraeus Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $4,650 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,400
• Scans and lab work: $410
• Transport to Piraeus Cancer Centre: $400
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $370
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,070
