A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Gatineau
Volunteers in Gatineau are raising $3,950 for a youth football pitch at the old Baobab bus depot.
🇨🇦 Gatineau, Quebec, Canada2,498 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $3,950.
It will serve about 474 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,950 goes:
• Materials: $2,900
• Permits and inspections: $165
• Safety equipment and signage: $340
• Tools hire and delivery: $545

Stay strong, Yamini. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
Wishing you the best. Hope you get there. My husband and I read this together. Love from Dnipro.
