A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Los Angeles
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Sycamore health centre yard that will serve 572 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,600.
It will serve about 572 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,600 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $250
• Tools hire and delivery: $230
• Materials: $3,120
