A solar-powered water pump for the Jacaranda vacant lot: help our neighbors in Portland
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $3,350 for materials.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,350.
It will serve about 507 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,350 goes:
• Materials: $2,250
• Permits and inspections: $95
• Safety equipment and signage: $520
• Tools hire and delivery: $485
