A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Jakarta
Volunteers in Jakarta are raising $300 for a solar-powered water pump at Lotus Primary School.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 88 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $135
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $95
