A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Chattogram
A community-led a community garden at the Harmony health centre yard that will serve 88 neighbors.
🇧🇩 Chattogram, Chattogram, Bangladesh1,575 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 88 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $310
• Permits and inspections: $15
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Thanks for sharing this. Great idea, hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to London so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
You're not alone, Kamrul. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Dallas.
