A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Corpus Christi
Volunteers in Corpus Christi are raising $3,750 for a solar-powered water pump at the Cedar vacant lot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,750.
It will serve about 543 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,750 goes:
• Materials: $2,500
• Permits and inspections: $370
• Safety equipment and signage: $460
• Tools hire and delivery: $420
