A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Athens
Volunteers in Athens are raising $1,400 for a solar-powered water pump at Unity Park.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,400.
It will serve about 192 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Materials: $870
• Permits and inspections: $160
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Tools hire and delivery: $295

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($870) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Appreciate you taking the time.
