Dignity in old age: caring for Simiyu
Help Simiyu stay in his own home with four months of part-time care.

I'm caring for my father, who's 80. After the death of his spouse Simiyu can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Simiyu desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Simiyu worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $900 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $55
• Part-time carer (four months): $810
• Medication and prescriptions: $35

Sure. The biggest one is mobility aids and bathroom adaptations, $55. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for asking.
