A skate park for the Sycamore vacant lot: help our neighbors in London
A community-led a skate park at the Sycamore vacant lot that will serve 213 neighbors.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom4,011 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $390, and the remaining cost is $3,150.
It will serve about 213 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $240
• Tools hire and delivery: $360
• Materials: $2,550

Best of luck, Henry. Looking forward to the next update. We're a small family in Guadalajara but we're thinking of you.
thanks for sharing this. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
Take care, Henry. Great idea, hope you get there. God bless.
I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care
