A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Yekaterinburg
Volunteers in Yekaterinburg are raising $1,050 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the Maple vacant lot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 553 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
