A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Shubra
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Baobab health centre yard that will serve 465 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $70, and the remaining cost is $310.
It will serve about 465 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $310 goes:
• Materials: $260
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $5
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Nabil?
