A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Barcelona
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the old Pioneer bus depot that will serve 353 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Pioneer bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 353 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Tools hire and delivery: $290
• Safety equipment and signage: $250
• Permits and inspections: $110
