A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Santa Fe
Volunteers in Santa Fe are raising $900 for a sensory garden for children with autism at Acacia Primary School.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 106 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $900 goes:
• Materials: $730
• Permits and inspections: $70
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
Thank you so much.
