A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Nottingham
Volunteers in Nottingham are raising $2,800 for a repair café workshop at the old Pioneer bus depot.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom783 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Pioneer bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,800.
It will serve about 274 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $220
• Materials: $2,300
• Safety equipment and signage: $280

How is Teresa doing now?
Take care, Teresa. More neighborhoods should do this. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.
Hang in there. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I hope December is when things finally get easier. Greetings from Bonny
Hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from San Cristóbal de las Casas
