We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $300 for materials.

Faisalabad
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 496 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $175 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Tools hire and delivery: $35 Thank you so much. - Mahnoor

  • Praying for you, Mahnoor. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out.

    • So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 7 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.

      • Stay strong, Mahnoor. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
