A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Kandy
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Baobab health centre yard that will serve 525 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 525 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.

• Materials: $190
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $65

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ruwan
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $190. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
