A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Dallas
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $1,150 for materials.
Anywhere in the world959 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,150.
It will serve about 159 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $155
• Tools hire and delivery: $530
• Safety equipment and signage: $465
Thank you so much.

You're not alone, Brandon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
