Charlotte
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,300. It will serve about 139 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,300 goes: • Materials: $2,350 • Permits and inspections: $165 • Safety equipment and signage: $175 • Tools hire and delivery: $610 With deep gratitude, Lauren

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($2,350) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for looking so closely.

  • You're not alone, Lauren. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Charlotte.
