Lahore
My family left Afghanistan 10 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Lahore. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in January. I was an engineer in Afghanistan, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by the Lahore Welcome Table charity, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $500 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $165 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $160 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $70 • Language classes and bus passes: $75 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $30 Thanks for being kind about this. - Rukhsar

Updates from Rukhsar

  1. Update from Lahore: the plan for rent deposit and first month is now scheduled. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. We're at 10% thanks to 1 of you. we've started the first stage. More news soon.
