The Freedom riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 40 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 190 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $400 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $180 • Tools and protective gear: $40 • Waste removal and skip hire: $140 • Signage and educational materials: $40 Every share and every dollar helps. - Anand

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Anand

Sure. The biggest one is native saplings and stakes, $180. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.

  • best of luck, Anand. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
