A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Leicester
A community-led a covered market stall space at Harmony Park that will serve 370 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,750.
It will serve about 370 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $155
• Materials: $2,450
• Permits and inspections: $145
