A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Kathmandu
Volunteers in Kathmandu are raising $550 for a covered market stall space at the old Unity bus depot.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 430 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $440
• Permits and inspections: $15
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
