A community garden for Pioneer Park: help our neighbors in Rotterdam

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,200. It will serve about 426 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,200 goes: • Materials: $730 • Permits and inspections: $180 • Safety equipment and signage: $125 • Tools hire and delivery: $165 I hope life is good to you. - Ellen
