A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Khulna
A community-led a community fridge at the old Maple bus depot that will serve 508 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Maple bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 508 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $350
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

sending strength, Emon. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My husband and I read this together. Take care.
Rooting for you. More neighborhoods should do this. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Blessings.
Rooting for you, Emon. Your post was clear and honest. I'll check back for the next update. All the best.
Thinking of you, Emon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Khulna.
Good luck. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Khulna
