Ying Xin Hu
Shoemaking for 40 years in Tallahassee
- 🇺🇸 Tallahassee, Florida, United States
- Old Mount Pleasant Shop
- Since 1986
- English, Mandarin
I've worked in shoemaking since 1986. I learned from my mother and passed what I could on to 1,440 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I run most mornings.
More about Ying
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
Crafts and trades
What gifts mean to Ying: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
