Ruwan Gihan Fernando
Art teacher at Starlight Primary School, Since 1994
- 🇱🇰 Jaffna, Northern, Sri Lanka
- Since 1994
- English, Sinhala, Spanish
I came to teaching late, after working as a shop assistant, and 32 years later I still can't imagine doing anything else.
I've run the drama society after school and some of my proudest moments happened there. I watch every football match going.
More about Ruwan
The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Ruwan: If you do send something, I'll put it toward a small scholarship for a student who needs it.

You taught me art in 1999 at Starlight Primary School. I still remember the long bus ride home.

You taught me art in 1996 at Starlight Primary School. I still remember the day the fire alarm went off during the exam. Truly.
