I've spent 19 years as a lecturer in organic chemistry at Holy Cross University in Kharkiv. I loved the lecture hall and loved office hours even more.
Former students now work as a mechanic and in a dozen other fields. It's the best part of this job.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Prof. Makarov
Some of my favorite days were field trips that went spectacularly wrong.
What gifts mean to Prof. Makarov: Any gift helps me keep buying books for students who can't afford them.
