I'm a rowing coach. I never went pro, but I get to see 1,680 kids fall in love with the game.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I keep a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Noboru
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
What gifts mean to Noboru: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
