Hayato Ren Kaneko
Youth softball coach and mentor
- 🇯🇵 Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan
- Andes Youth Club
- 2001 to 2016

For 15 years I ran the softball program at Andes Youth Club in Shinjuku. We trained 2 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I kept a jar of spare pencils on my desk.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
More about Hayato
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Hayato: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.

you coached me in 2001. I still hear your voice on the sideline. Greetings from Johannesburg.
