Mrs. Gunawardena

Mathematics and early years teacher, Dehiwala

🇱🇰 Dehiwala, Western, Sri Lanka
Dehiwala Grammar School
Since 1982
English, Sinhala, Spanish

I teach mathematics at Dehiwala Grammar School in Dehiwala since 1982. Most days I teach Grade 6, and my door is open at lunch. I've coached the school's cross-country squad for a few seasons. We lost more than we won, and I'd do it all again. It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.

More about Mrs. Gunawardena

The students I remember best weren't always the top of the class. They were the ones who asked "why?" when nobody else did.

What gifts mean to Mrs. Gunawardena: A gift would go toward books and supplies for the students I still tutor.
