Miguel K. Álvarez
Thatching for 22 years in Oakland
- 🇺🇸 Oakland, California, United States
- The Jacaranda Workshop
- Since 2004
- English, Spanish
I've worked in thatching since 2004. I learned from my aunt and passed what I could on to 1,060 apprentices.
I can still tell good work from rushed work from across the street. I watch every football match going.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
More about Miguel
Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.
What gifts mean to Miguel: Any gift will help me keep the workshop open for evening lessons.
