Mercy Wunmi Okafor
Master of blacksmithing, now teaching apprentices
- 🇳🇬 Onitsha, Anambra, Nigeria
- 2002 to 2022
- English, Igbo
I've worked in blacksmithing from 2002 to 2022. I learned from my older brother and passed what I could on to 960 apprentices.
Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I carry a notebook everywhere.

What gifts mean to Mercy: A gift would go toward tools for apprentices who can't afford their own.
