I coached basketball at San Diego Swimming Club from 1986 to 1998. Most of my players were between 9 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I answered every email, even at midnight.
More about Mercedes
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.

What gifts mean to Mercedes: A gift would go toward kit and bus fares for kids who can't afford them.
