I've coached swimming at Alcalá de Henares Maple Ridge Sports Club since 2013. Most of my players were between 8 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I volunteer at the food bank on Saturdays.
I'm still learning every day.
More about Mateo
I still keep the team photo from our best season on the wall.
What gifts mean to Mateo: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
