Lestari Maya Lie
Youth chess coach and mentor
- 🇮🇩 Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia
- Surabaya Jacaranda Football Club
- Since 2009
- English
For 17 years I've run the chess program at Surabaya Jacaranda Football Club in Surabaya. We trained 3 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I never raise my voice.
More about Lestari
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.
What gifts mean to Lestari: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
