Kiprop Omondi Ouma

Self-taught woodcarving artist

  • 🇰🇪 Kikuyu, Kiambu, Kenya
  • The Silverlake Gallery
  • 1986 to 2006
  • English, Swahili
I work mostly in woodcarving, sometimes printmaking. My first show was in 1986 at The Silverlake Gallery, and nobody came except my family and one confused dog. I also teach a weekly class at The Silverlake Gallery, which keeps me honest.

More about Kiprop

I've had 11 small exhibitions over the years. My favorite was the one with the worst lighting.

What gifts mean to Kiprop: A gift would go toward materials for my next series.
