For 26 years I've run the hockey program at Montpellier Athletic Club in Montpellier. We trained 5 evenings a week, whatever the weather.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I write a short note to every student at the end of term.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.

If you played for me, you probably remember the day the fire alarm went off during the exam.
