Hellen Namukasa Maina

Blacksmithing, done properly

  • 🇰🇪 Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya
  • Little Eastgate Trades Guild
  • 2010 to 2019
  • English, Swahili
I've worked in blacksmithing from 2010 to 2019. I learned from my grandmother and passed what I could on to 290 apprentices. Apprentices come in nervous and leave proud. That's my favorite part. I try to remember everyone's name. I'm proud of everyone I got to work with.

More about Hellen

Some of my old apprentices now run their own shops. I couldn't be prouder.

What gifts mean to Hellen: I'd put gifts toward a new set of tools for the next apprentice.
