I coached football at Dar es Salaam Crescent Sports Club from 1989 to 2004. Most of my players were between 10 and 15, and a lot of them turned into friends for life. Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I stayed late on Thursdays for anyone who needed it.
