I've coached basketball at Liverpool Youth Club since 1996. Most of my players were between 10 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I paint watercolors of whatever is outside the window.
I never expected anything in return, but a kind word always makes my day.
More about Derek
Some of my former players now coach their own teams, which is the best thank-you I could ask for.

What gifts mean to Derek: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
