I coached swimming at Mukono Fairview Community Club from 1983 to 2012. Most of my players were between 12 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Practice always ended with the same rule: nobody walks home alone. I volunteer at the food bank on Saturdays.
It has been a good run and I'm grateful for all of it.
What gifts mean to Coach Wanjiru: I'll put any gifts toward a small fund so no child misses a match because of money.
