I coached chess at San Francisco Oakwood Swimming Club from 1995 to 2022. Most of my players were between 12 and 14, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I learned every name in the first week.
If you remember me, I'd love to hear from you.
