I coached hockey at Bamboo Boxing Gym from 1985 to 2015. Most of my players were between 10 and 13, and a lot of them turned into friends for life.
Winning was never the point, though I won't pretend I didn't enjoy it. I wrote a short note to every student at the end of term.
Hearing from old faces is the best part of my week.
